The second-hand marketplace Members Share Anger About Sizing Modifications
Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has updated its size classifications for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all users about the change.
Online Platforms Response
Countless users and merchants are posting online stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification than originally posted because of the remapping.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to review their products and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Changes
Earlier, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, located in England, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
